I always thought the pfffffft was due to pressure --- learn something new everyday :-). The car is fuel injected (1987, 900 base model, 8 valve) I had a leak in the engine bay with the fuel filter. This was fixed. I also had a cracked filler fitting (the pastic fitting surrounding the filler pipe). The cracks were sealed. Still, there is a very heavy fuel oder in the car when I get in it in the morning. Thanks again, Ken Christensen
