I am beginning to think (from the messages posted in this news group) that this is one of those famous Saab quirks. Throughout, my car ran fine, and there were no indications of underlying problems. I took the car back several times to the dealers, and had various things done (starting off with being told that I must not have tightened the gas cap sufficiently after a fill-up, and including oxygen sensor replacement). Finally, a wiring harness was fixed and that (I hope) has taken care of the problem. I have been driving the car for about 10 months without the check engine light coming on. (Maybe they just disconnected it!)
