Subject: 745 seat heater question

I just removed the drivers seat from a 745 (1987) to repair a broken lumbar support. This repair was simple. The heating in the drivers seat didn't work for as long as I know. I found a burnt wire which I repaired and after checking (with upholstery properly replaced) but before mounting on the floor of the car, I found that the heating worked for about half a minute before the thermostatic device turned the system down. So far so good. Problem is that it only turned the heating on again after at least 30 minutes. Is this normal or should I replace it. Can I check it (i.e. what is the normal temperature to open/close etc.). Many thanks, Stoof
