Davey, I appreciate your reply, thank you. Today I did some checking. Pulling off the plastic connector atop the valve cover (it has a large and a small hose going air intake) I can easily blow thru it, no restriction. So that would eliminate a pressure build up. Having the Hall sensor at the fly wheel, the distributor has practically no guts, just the shaft with the rotor on the end. I'll try to take it off on the weekend to see how I might disassemble it. If it looks iffi, e.i. pressed in bearings/shaft, I'll go with your recommendation and get a replacement unit. Thanks again.
