I live in upstate NY where we have lots of snow for parts of the year. I had a 1984 Saab 900 which I loved to drive, but it got stuck in snow and mud that is no problem for my 1997 Subaru Outback. I would choose the Saab any day over the Subaru for dry roads or rain. It was the best car I ever drove, as far as the whole driving experience was concerned. However, for snow and mud, there is nothing that comes close to 4WD or AWD. -- Vic Roberts
