Find the sounder (near the fan/battery in mine), pop off a rubber cover and turn from on to off. I imagine strictly speaking you should tell your insurance company if you habitually leave it off. Alternatively if you want a working plip at a less extortionate cost than Saab, let me know and I'll dig out the details of where I got my replacement from...
