This is just a guess, but wouldn't the ACC version on your car need a motor controller like the 9000 has? The 9k has a notorious transistor that fails on occasion and causes fan motor control problems. this is for the 9k http://www.quasimotors.com/transistor.htm see if this link makes sense. I would think that you have ACCII on your '97, so it may be similar.
