Well, I pulled the wheels and HEY! - plenty of brakes left - maybe it's the wheel bearings I heard? - gotta go out again today and see what I can find. A preliminary check of vacuum lines finds no leaks. If I pull the line off the PCV assembly, the vacuum actually fights its being removed. The lines are pretty mushy, though. That's the long line that runs across the top of the engine and the two short pieces that connect the plastic valve to the PCV, so I'm getting some new lines for it today, and I'll see what else I can find in the process. I doubt the local parts store will have the little plastic valve item, so I know I won't be able to change that today, but it is clear inside, not blocked or dirty. Should there be a litle 'rattler' ball in the PCV plug that inserts into the valve cover? I've seen that in other cars, but there isn't anything in this one, just a hollow valve.
