89 900 16V turbo - 112K - AT Bought it about 2 years ago, used by my wife the first year, then it has slept for the second. I woke it up by changing oil/ filter, pulling and cleaning plugs, squirting oil into cylinders to lube, and charging battery. Started up after a try or two, ran well, have been using it for two weeks now. It seems to have a problem starting up first / second tries, always starts on the third. First try just cranks, second almost catches, third starts up. Any ideas as to why this occurs? As to the erratic idle, it seems generally to run at about 1000RPM in neutral, and runs smoothly at local and highway speeds, but when I come to a stop at a light, I get an up & down idle between 800-1200 RPM, and the car surges against the brakes as this occurs. Again, any ideas? I'm a Volvo man whose Volvo has been whacked by a Lincoln Town Car, and I'm afraid I really don't know as much about this breed as I should. It certainly seems more complex than my 740 was, judging by the various things mentioned in many of the posts I've been reading on this newsgroup, and perhaps the turbo is part of that, but with some help here maybe I'll be able to familiarize myself with it more.
