What did you experience at the dealer that caused you to think Saab is not very committed to your area? You picked kind of a bad time in the season to go Saab shopping. I was at my local dealer (in suburban Chicago) about two weeks ago looking for a stick shift 9-3. They didn't have any and couldn't find any in a computer search of the region. All the 2002s were sold out and the 2003s had not arrived yet. I was told they should be in by October. It might take a week or two longer for the supply to get to the west coast.
