2000 9-5 Aero ProblemFrom the information you provided, it sounds more like one (or more) of the cells in the battery made the "pop" and it/they went bad. Did you look around in the engine compartment when this happened? Hopefully none of the acid leaked out because that would have eaten through the panels by now if it wasn't washed off immediately. My first guess, without examining the car, is that the battery experienced a catastrophic failure and needs to be replaced. Walt Kienzle 1991 9000T "Marc Escuro" <mgescuronopsami.com> wrote in message news:B9BC147E.A853%mgescuronopsami.com... Well, it's been 2.5 years and 42,600 miles and I finally had my first major problem on my Saab. I turned the ignition and hear a very loud "pop" from the engine compartment. And the car essentially died after that. Not enough power to roll up the windows, recline the seats, radio, etc. But enough to power some of the overhead lights in the cabin and the alarm sometimes was able to chirp. But that was about it. The unfortunate thing was that I was about 150 miles from home. Saab Roadside Assistance was very friendly, and after some convincing, they authorized a tow all the way back home. So the car now sits at the dealer's service center. I guess this is one of the moment in which I wish I had OnStar. But I'm not sure if the system would be powered with what happened to the car. Since the service center is closed for the weekend, anyone have any idea what might have happened to the car? Or maybe someone experience this same/similar problem?? I'm thinking blown fuses, but would that have cause a very loud pop??? -- Marc Escuro mgescuronopsami.com mgescuronopsamnet
