Your new dealer is correct - there is no replacement interval, and the chain should only be replaced when it's stretched. This is very easy to check, and your dealer should be able to do this for you if you don't know how to. In practice, it'll start rattling *many* thousands of miles before it needs replacing. I've owned cars with well over 200k miles with the original chain - with no signs of wear. -- Grunff
