Subject: 900 S : Damp smell/odour

We have a 1995 Saab 900 S convertible & live in a very humid country (Hong Kong). When we bought the car in Aug'02 the interior smelt fine - like a new-ish car. In Sep'02 we had a typhoon in HK and the car was parked outside. When we returned the (about a week after the typhoon) the carpets were absolutely soaking wet inside. We took it to the garage who reported the seal in the passenger footwell (a/c drain?) had gone - they replaced it. We dried out the inside with a dehumidifier and also left it in the sun. Since then the leak seems to be repaired and the carpets have remained dry. Ever since though there is a terrible damp / mold smell in the car. I can't seem to find where it is coming from - the carpets seem to smell OK. Have done a search of this NG and a few people have similar damp / mold-like smells - most have said it is the drain in the passenger footwell or a leak in the window/roof seals. Some have reported the smell being in the a/c system. There doesn't appear to be a smell coming from our a/c though. Anyone any thoughts what it could be?
