Subject: Secondary Air Injection NG900 2.3 N/A
Well, I replaced the secondary air injection pump this past weekend
(because the previous one burned out) but I'm not too sure that the system
is working correctly. The pump is a lot noisier than I remember it being
before and I can feel noticeable airflow when I put my hand next to it.
Unfortunately, I never messed with the old one before it died, so I don't
know if this is correct behavior or not. What is the relationship between
the air pump and the vacuum system? Where does the big hose go from the
air pump?
I was hoping that the pump was the cause of a vacuum leak that was causing
my engine idle to surge, but unfortunately the surge is still there and I
can't find any vacuum leaks.
Could this be an exhaust problem?
