Thanks for the link - very interesting. I did wonder about bring the car over to Switzerland, and got a quotation from Ward Van Lines in Santiago for importing it - came to almost $4,000 at which point I forgot the idea. Another problem is that if I bring it here I can't sell it legally for 12 months. I don't actually need a car in Basel, where the public transport is amazing, and anyway, the company includes a lease-car in the deal. Maybe the idea of privately importing a transmission unit to Chile from the US makes sense.
