All you do is do a straight compression test on each cylinder (throttle wide open, turn over for say 10 seconds), note the figures, then repeat the test, but first put a good glug of engine oil down each spark plug hole. If the oil results in significantly higher readings (10-20psi or more), then you probably have significant bore/ring wear. As for the leakdown, you need to get hold of a pressure gauge (different from a compression tester; no one-way valve), fit a T to it, and connect it in the same way as a compression tester. Turn the engine so that cyl 1 has all valves closed, then pressurise it via the T using a hand pump/compressor to 200psi. Take pressure readings at 10 second intervals. Repeat for all the other cylinders. The compression test should be enough to give you a clear idea. If it isn't the blocked outlet as per Robert's description (which is a distinct possibility, lets hope), then do the compression test then post the results. Good luck, -- Grunff
