Subject: Where can I find a buyer guide to the classic 900 (not the newer 900/9-3/9-5)

Hi, as you may see from my sig and website, I'm a bit of a skoda nut. I like them for their no frills, low price, get you anywhere reliability. However, I fancy something with a few more creature comforts. There are a few cars over the years that have been performance/comfort/luxury orientated family saloons/hatches that I have liked, among them the Audi GT Coupe (and the Quattro turbo coupe of course), the Volvo 480 Turbo, the Porsche 924, and the Saab 900 (Especially the turbo). I've noticed now that the older 900i and some older Turbos have dropped in to the few hundreds to several thousands price bracket, and while the 924 has the porsche money pit syndrome without the porsche prestige, and the GT Coupe can have cambelt probs, and need 4 wheel alignment if it is a Wuattro, and 480's can be an electrical nightmare, and have rustleak probs, I haven't seen any such issues for the Saab. What is the opinion of the older 900 (either i or Turbo). Can someone post a useful buyers guide site. Be very grateful. Have to admit that I would be looking at the £00's leval than the £000's, and don't mind paying for basic wear and tear repairs (such as camchain replacement etc), if the rest of the car is going to be arround for a long time more. I'm after something with a little Ooomph, and good comfort, and won't make me feel like I'm losing my fillings, like I do in my lowered suspension, bucket seated 1992 Favorit. It's a fun car for short distances, but anything over 100ish miles and it starts to grate abit, even with the decent audio install I have that drowns out a fair amount of the noise that passes through the minimal soundproofing. I want to keep the Fav for fun, but the day to day car needs to be reliable, comfortable, and quick. Would a Saab 900 measure up to my needs? -- Carl Robson http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
