Subject: Re: new 9.3ss competing with ???

The 9.3 would have to compete against the A4 or BMW 325 - based on price. The lowest price listed for a 9-3 was $27K with the typical model being $35K and a high end model in the mid $40Ks. A low end Camry listed in Edmunds for $18K, but with the sales you might get one for $17K. A fully loaded high end Camry listed at $23K. Saab does not own the market on powerful front wheel drive cars. However, they do have little competition on powerful front wheel drive cars with manual transmissions. While you can get a Camry, Accord, or Nissan with 200 to 240 Hp engines - none are currently available with a manual transmission. Volvo lists their S60 and V70 with manual transmissions, but you can get them only on special orders - and without a test drive in the US. Don't try to compare a Saab to a Camry, they are like apples and oranges. The Camry can get you down the road in a dull, but reliable, reasonably safe car. The Saab, at almost twice the money might be more powerful and fun - and it just might have a few more gadgets. So, why are you buying a car? For fun or basic transportation and is money an issue?
