I take it an earlier engine than 84 would require LRP rather than straight unleaded then. > Are you any nearer finding a Saab, Carl? A little, haven't actually looked at any cars yet. Still doing the research. Next thing will be to have a look what insurance would be like. The other half says "God they're ugly". I like long, quite straight lined cars, the Saab is quite curvy compared to some of the cars I like (except Porsche and certain Ferarris), while she likes nice round small modern cars. She says "At the moment, with what you've spent on the Favorit, you can't afford another car, you can run the Fav into the ground first". Maybe she's right, and I should hang on for now. We only have parking in the yard for 2 smallish cars, or one car in the yard, and one outside accross the back gates, where my Favorit got broken into (they bent back the top of the door frame). I was able to bend the frame back, once I could get the window open, with the only visible damage being the door doesn't appear to close quite so flushly as the rear door (but close enough to seal and not sause wind noise), and a slight crease where the window frame meets the main part of the door. Going to still keep perusing the local papers and autotrader for if a bargain shows up though. Then I shall buy it, take for a test run, and she can decide which car we should keep, and whether I should strip the Favorit out for rallying (she wants to try rallying, as do I). Thanks for the Petrol advice. BTW I'm in Warrington (between liverpool and manchester if you don't know). Never used Morrisons petrol, usually use Sainsburys unleaded. Used Sainsburys and Esso LRP in my old Estelle. Total LRP seemed to give a little more go, but a lot higher consumption, Shell and Texaco gave little extra for a lot higher consumption, and Texaco seemed silly high priced compared to some of the others. Sainsburys was the best trade off. I usually put in about £20 a week for about 200-250 miles driving, my maths may be totally off, but I reckon that to be arround 42 to the gallon (hate having to convert cash to litres, then litres to gallons). I realise that petrol costs and insurance costs are going to go up. -- Carl Robson http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
