I'm a Skoda spotter now :) It's fun isn't it. And now, because I fancy one, I keep seeing Classic 900s everywhere. I had to drive from Cheshire to Norfolk on Friday (for family wedding), and back on Sunday. My old Favvy never missed a beat. Only problem is, with basic competition buckets (minimal padding, and what there is is foam on a steel base) my back felt like a concertina once I had got out. 200 miles ish each way, and only used a 40GBP of petrol all weekend. Of course I would gladly sacrifice some of that fuel economy for comfort, without losing performance, hance wanting a decent 900. I was passed by a 900 turbo on the way down on the A50 between stoke and derby, and I'm sure on Sunday on the way back the same one passed me heading north. Made me so jealous. sitting at 75-80 in the second lane on the M6 just after J1 heading north, as a beautiful 900T pre-facelift cruises past as if I'm standing still. It felt like was ragging the hell out of the old Skoda, even though TBH it was only doing 3.1k RPM in fifth (upto about 3.4k at 80mph). Made me more resolved to find a decent 900 as soon as I can finish tidying up the Skoda, and find a buyer. Probably means I will need to do the winter in the Skoda (they know how make a working heater too thanks to Czech winters), then tidy it in the spring, and sell it for a Saab. It's fine for the day to day 40 miles return everyday. -- Carl Robson http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
