Thanks for the ideas. The battery is brand new ( just purchased today ) and is fully charged. I have been able to rotate the the engines crankshaft by rocking the car while it is in gear so I know the new engine is not seized. I will try your advice and will see if the starter is proper aligned although I'm not sure how to check for proper alignment. My biggest fear is that the new engine requires a different flywheel as well. I sure would hate to have to pull the gearbox out again. Thanks again for your suggestions.
