Subject: 1995 NG 900S 2.3NA AT - Idle hunting
This one's still got me scratching my head.
The car runs fine for the most part, but the idle hunts, particularly in
cold weather or with the A/C running.
I can't find any vacuum leaks.
I've tried swapping out: Idle Control valve, distributor, spark plug
wires, oxygen sensor, and even the engine management computer (bosch
motronic).
Nothing seems to help with this particular problem.
The overall idle seems a little low, which I would think would indicate a
vacuum leak somewhere, but I've replaced all of the vacuum hose in the car
with no results.
Car is an automatic, and it surges pretty badly when first put into Drive
or Reverse.
Sometimes when I'm driving I smell fuel coming through the ventilation
system.
Gas mileage in city conditions is pretty poor (16-18 mpg).
Any ideas?
