Well, my 900 sedan had a similar problem, maybe this'll help: On mine it was because the central locking mechanism had come unconnected from the lock, and various bits of linkeage were just flopping around in there. I was able to fold down the rear seats, crawl into the boot and reach through the large hole near the back of the lock. I struck lucky with my fiddling around in the dark and managed to unlock and pop the boot by pulling the levers behind the lock in a few different random directions.
