My DI cassette, or whatever the hell is it, went without warning very recently...$350 to fix. My car has well under 50k miles. It ran well enough to get it to a shop. Anyway, don't think you can do anything to check that out in advance. I have had some niggling problems that required multiple visits to the dealer, fortunately while under warranty. The first was problems getting the trunk-mounted cd changer to work. They replaced the head unit, the changer, the wiring, the entire unit, maybe 4 or 5 times in one combination or another. It has been fine now for at least a year, so I think they finally got it. The other has been the a/c...a couple of years ago we'd start hearing a slight groan from the engine bay intermittently...it gradually got louder. We eventually concluded that the groan seemed to be tied to when the a/c compressor was kicking in. The saab dealer replaced a lot of stuff on this one (their theory seems to be just keep replacing systems until the problem is fixed). First I recall they replaced some fan bearings or something like that, and some other stuff I can't place. Then they honed in on the a/c, first replacing various parts, then the entire system (!) I think twice. That fixed it for about a year, now it makes the groan occasionally and softly. Through all this, though, I've never had any actual problems with the performance of the a/c (or anything else), just that damn groan. So I ignore it. Here's one you should def. watch for-- the alloy wheels from this period were notorious for getting bent easily. In fact I received documents from a class action suit against saab on this issue, where I think I could have received 1/2 off a new set of wheels or something like that. I'm told 2 of mine are bent (I can see the flat spot on the inner rim edge on one of them), but I ignore that too. I run winter tires on steel wheels 6 months a year anyway. I couldn't get your link to work to see your car on ebay, but the depreciation on these cars is huge, so I'm sure you got a good deal...a LOT of car for the money. Get ready to spend regular dough on electrical nits and the like, but the powertrain shouldn't let you down. Enjoy. rob
