Subject: Re: Castrol Magnatec/Mobil 1 compatibility?

In article <at6qvk$lbo$1nopsamg2.svr.pol.co.uk>, Pidgeonpost <timhnopsamhr ies45.freeserve.co.uk> writes >In discussion with someone where I work we got on to oil compatibility, and >we were both wondering whether Castrol Magnatec and Mobil 1 can be used >together, both being synthetic. My instinct is not to mix them What says the >NG? > Magnatec is semi-synthetic and no I've never been entirely clear what that means. I think it's mineral with extra cracking or something. I've used it for top-ups on turbos when the previous change has been with full synthetic. Then again there occasions I have done an oil change with Magnatec or semi-synthetic equivalent and next time gone back to full synthetic. I've never had any sign of incompatibility or sludge forming. I have used various full synthetics but never actual branded Mobil 1 however. CS -- C Sutherland
