You should also consider how long you're going to keep the car. I bought my Saab new in 1990 and am still driving it. That's how may cars with 4 year loans? You can certainly justify an expensive "quality" car if it's going to last you 10 or 12 years (or more). So, I paid the price up front, but I haven't had a car loan since 1995.
