Look into the following link, it is a test published in a Swedish newspaper, so the language is probably undeschiferable for you, but the graphical summaries should be possible to understand. They have tested both tyres with and without studs, for what I see of your list you are looking into non stud tyres. The main headline of the entire article is actually "Remove the dangerous tyre from the Market Goodyear" They refer to the Goodyear Ultra Grip6 which appearantly is an order of magnitude worse than the other ones. their rating on a five (+) grade scale is (no studs) is: Nokian Hakkapeliitta Q +++ Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 +++ Gislaved Soft Frost ++ Michelin Maxi Ice ++ Goodyear Ultra Grip 6 - It requires studs to reach the ++++ and +++++ levels as some of the tests are on pure ice http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/bil/story/0,2789,216835,00.html Hope this helped "Jamie Smith" <Jamie.Smithnopsamyonder.co.uk> wrote in message news:tti30v8c9mc81q4cns4uru6fs3vk9i5rejnopsamcom... > I am in the process of buying some snow tyres, I have looked at the > following tyres in a 185/70/14 size. > > Michelin Alpin > Continental winter contact TS 780 > Toyo Snow Prox S940 > Bridgestone Blizzak LM18 > Goodyear Ultra Grip6 > Pirelli W190 Snow control > Gislaved NorthFrost > > What are the groups views on these tyres along with which are best. > The driving conditions that I will be in will be mostly wet, slushy > and icey roads with occasional deep snow falls. > > Thanks > > Jamie
