People who are more interested in good grip will choose the smaller one. A high-profile tyre gives a slightly more sloppy feel but that is actually more desirable on snow and ice. The extra sidewall flex results in the tyre breaking grip less often. In addition, a narrow tyre will cut through slush and reach the pavement a lot more often than a wide, low-profile winter tyre will do. Have you ever seen a winter rally driver use wide, low-profile tyres? I rest my case ;-) /Robert Sweden
