Do this by using a screwdriver to push the lever through one of the gaps at the top of the grille. It's fiddly, but possible. Once it's open, remove the latch mechanism (2 bolts), clean it, lube it, and refit it. Adjust the cable length so that it opens and latches ok. This is all easier to do if you remove the grille first. -- Grunff
