Subject: Hood stuck

Have a '94 900 drop top and it wouldn't start this morning. It has been running fine. When I went to pop the hood release on the inside, nothing happened. This is an intermittent thing with this car. Usually when I get rolling and go over a bump, it will open. Is there some other way I can get the hood open to check the battery and engine compartment? I believe the cable needs adjustment some way but am not sure if it's possible.
