Salutations: Yeah - I stopped using my beloved WD40 some years back when a mechanic pal of mine explained that it was really a water marine repellent meant to coat things strapped to decks and it's lube properties were offset by the fact it turns to varnish and starts holding dust after 40 or so days.. Despite what the re-purposing info on the can would have you believe apparently.. He hooked me up with: a: some really good german penetrating oil b: small tube of pro liquid graphite from the locksmith crowd c: 10cc's of refined whale oil meant for fishing reels with a hypo applicator.. (he bought a 50 gallon drum with a bladder liner 48 years ago) And before you start flaming me about the whales - for what it's worth - the whale in question who made up the barrel was done in in 1955 (long before I was born) and he still has 1/2 the barrel left as he only uses it for small mechanical speedo and tack gears in the dash.. One drop at a time.. I like whales - it's the damned seals I can't stand.. J Dexter - webmaster - http://www.dexterdyne.org/ All tunes no cookies no ads no news no weather no phone in All the Time..
