With reference to the metal rings you mention - I think your talking about the suspension 'caps'. they are alu. rings with a backing plate that sits behind the bush mount and the bolts pass through them. They're a common thing to go, that is, I've replaced a lot. Not sure about current price, but I don't think they're too expensive, and they're not too difficult to replace yourself.
