Don't worry about the oil, it just means you had half a litre of so in the engine. This can happen if you drin it just after it's been running, or if the car is on a slope. I really don't know what you mean about the ring - it's too cold to go out and take a pic, perhaps you could take a pic, mark the bit you mean, and upload it somewhere (or email it to me). -- Grunff
