This "certain variants only" "may enter" is the overboost function (more torque for up to 20 seconds) available for Aeros with manual gerabox. > I think any turbo owner will tell you they get different > performance depending on the weather. This isn't strictly true for a car, like the 9-5, with Trionic 7 engine management system. A T7 system will not control turbo pressure like traditional engine management system, like Trionic 5, does. Instead it controls torque by controlling how much air mass it allows to enter the cylinders. A T7 system will allow the turbo to produce whatever turbo pressure required to reach the requested torque (input from driver as accelerator is pushed and then limited by all kinds of rules (rpm, speed, gear, etc). This means that the performance from a T7 engine should be relatively constant and not depend on air pressure (altitude), air temperature, air humidity, etc. The goal to control torque is also reflected in the "Turbo" gauge, it does not indicate turbo pressure, as it does in older Saabs using a mechanical gauge, instead it is an electrical gauge showing the air mass that has been let into the cylinders. -- G–ran Larsson http://www.nospam.com
