Do you mean you have to crank for a while - say 5-10 seconds to get the car to fire when starting up? You shouldn't crank for more than about 10 seconds and give the car about 30, or so, seconds to rest before trying again. Is the car fuel injected, or carburetted? Try tightening the spark plugs, ensuring the HTs are firmly connected and spray some aerosol easy-start product over the electrical connections. If it does start better but is still ropey, replacement of HTs, sparks, dizzy cap and perhaps ignition coil would be a good start. It's reasonably cheap to do and probably should be done anyway. Perhaps fuel pressure is at issue, or if the car has been standing for a while with an empty tank condensation can be a problem. > This is my > winter Saab, she starts every time makes though snow, handles well on the > camp road in the winter, She is known as SUPER SAAB when know one can make > it in bad weather-- she can--Like Thomas the train -- I can make it ----I > know I can. Erm, that would be Thomas the Tank Engine - good analogy :) Paul 1985 900i 16V 1989 900 Turbo S http://pjgh.go.dyndns.org/saab/index.html
