Subject: Re: saab 9000 alarm(?) problems

Yeah Andy, first car I ever owned without a glove box. Weird initially but used to it now. I think the alarm sensor is in front of the rear view mirror, try giving that a clean. Otherwise my car is very sensitive to both remotes so I have to be careful anywhere in my house that I don't play with it and accidently unlock the thing. Your "other" remote will need to be programmed by the dealer (do not know if this will be possible with a remote from a different generation of alarm). When mine was on the blink, they quoted me NZ$108 (about 35 quid) for a new one but thankfully an electronics geek in my office replaced the clicker button for 1 dozen Steinlagers. Its a shame you didn't get a spare remote with the car. As far as I know every Saab comes with two remotes which you will need if someone else drives the car eg wife. Give me a yell off group if you like and I'll tell you some of the other issues I've had with my 1996 9000 CS that you may come across. cheers, John -- Grand Poobah '96 9000 CS 2.3 LPT 159km andy smith <notmenopsamam.com> wrote in article <b0k27s$h9t$1nopsamta.btinternet.com>... > thanks for the reply ... interesting as your car seems to be the same age > (1996) and model (well mine is a cd vs your cs) so I guess the alarm system > is the same ... > > thanks for the tip with "4" - I shall watch out for it > > in "3" yes I do see the leds flash ... just sometimes the car doesn't > respond ... maybe I should do what you suggest in "2" with my main > transmitter > > I hadn't tried what you say in "2" ... not sure I understand... would this > work with any transmitter .... if it did wouldn't you be able to open my car > with yours etc? ... > (note the transmitter on my spare set did not come with the car ... when I > bought the car I only got 1 set of keys ...
