Hi I wonder if anyone can help - I have a 1996 saab 9000 2.3 cd with standard factory fit alarm / immobiliser... I bought the car 2nd hand and have never quite understood how the alarm / immobiliser works ... i) I have always been annoyed with the feature that seems to immobilise the engine if it is switched off for any short period of time (1 minute or so - only if I take the key out?) ... not a big deal but I have the lock and unlock the car using the remote transmitter before I can start the car ... can this be tweaked in any way ii) I have a spare set of keys with a remote transmitter ... but the transmitter is not "programmed for my car" ... how can it be programmed for my car (or my car programmed to accept it as well as my primary key fob transmitter) iii) very occasionally I have a problem where I cannot unlock & disarm the alarm via the remote transmitter (i just doesn't seem to do anything) ... if I keep trying over a period of time (sometime as long as an hour - it eventually works ... I've tested the batteries in the transmitter and they seem fine? any thoughts on why it doesn't work sometimes (environmentals eg strong sunlight?) iv) I am experiencing a problem where by the car will not start ... I unlock it (using remote, which also disarms alarm / immobiliser) but when I turn the key in the lock engine turns, but doesn't start - its just like the immobiliser is still on ... If I use the remote to lock /unlock it try again and repeat 5 or 6 times it eventually starts fine (it then starts straight away) no problems .... other times it will just start on fist attempt ... I have the car regularly serviced ... but not at a saab main dealer (none close by) any help / thoughts gratefully received ... Andy
