I would imagine that much service had also been done on the 98 MY. Can you get the records from both vehicles? My initial response would be to go for the lower mileage vehicle. I know that a major brakejob is required at 40K according to my dealer for my 9-3 2001MY and I'm sure that the higher mileage vehicle must've had some good maintenance work done to it also but I would prefer the less K's.
