OK, Again I ask you not to shoot the messenger. I was waiting at the shop the other day while my wifes battery was being changed and I started a conversation with another gentleman who was also waiting. it seems that the guy worked for GMAC/Saab USA division. He told me that GM is in the process of completely merging all European managment into a single entity under the Opel/Vauxhal division. Nice Huh. He also told me that the 2001 9-3 & 9-5s that are coming off lease are having real problems with quality, on average needing $3000-$5000 of repairs each to make them resellable. So beware if any of you go for these particular models. It is sad when some one who works for one company, Saab, says that the direct competition, Volvo, is a much more reliable car. IMHO they both have issues, but Volvo seems to only have problems with the small stuff, ie leaky gaskets on the doors, power windows that don't work right, gas (petrol) leaks, while Saab is having mechanical problems, especially with transmissions (that is what he said the biggest issue seems to be with the 2001s).
