Subject: Re: 9-3 Turbo - 185 or 205 hp?

No actually, Saab made 3 different models of the 9-3. (1)The 185hp, which has a turbo (2)The 205hp aka H.O.T., also a turbo (3)and the Viggen, which is what Rich listed as the 225-230hp. I have the 205hp, and have been doing little tricks to it to add horsepower. The only reason I know this is because I work at a Saab dealership. I would definitely get the 205hp one. It really makes a difference. You can also check in your owners manual to see which engine is in the vehicle, by looking at the VIN Number, which is on top of the dash, on the driver side. (visible outside the car). I hope this clears up any questions you might have about the engines. So, however much money you have to spend, would determine which one you get. Personally I would choose a Viggen, just because the trim is all custom, and looks awesome. But if you still want a fast car that is very similar to the Viggen, I'd go with the 205hp. Hope this was helpful, Alex "Richard Chew" <Richnopsameldo.demon.co.uk> wrote in message news:4+VO4FAEgvP+IwUJnopsameldo.demon.co.uk... > The difference is, apart from the obvious power /torque difference is > the 185BHP is the 'high pressure' variant of the 150BHP LPT engine and > that the 205BHP is the HOT (High Output Turbo) variation, this was only > fitted to the Aero model. > > Way's to tell 'em apart - The 150 - No boost gauge, 185 boost gauge, 205 > would be in the Aero only (With the fantastic Viggen seats) > I think this is generally correct. > > > Also in the 1999/2000 MY The Viggen was the performance model, with a > 225/230 BHP engine.
