Salutations: I have come across a 1992 9000T 2.3 with a brutally murdered transmission - it also had the turbo header snapped off by local towing thugs.. I may be able to save it.. Current owner drove around with a cracked tranny line for several days until it burnt out (like - it starting slipping one day - started dropping gears next - started grinding diff third day) then finally had it strap towed on the forth day and snapped a cracked an cast turbo header.. Lord - it's just awful.. I'll bet he hit something on the road and didn't bother to lift the hood.. It's a 4 door hatch and rust free (except under the bottles under the hood which were let go loose and scratched the paint under them). Leather and metallic green - all interior systems seem clean and dry and operational.. Apparently - had the engine "rebuilt" so it has 94,000 km on the 2.3T power plant.. I have an 2.0 1989 9000T CD automatic with a 300k but still swish engine / turbo with rotten interior - tired exterior and suspension parts starting to wear out.. Can I drop the 1989 2.0T tranny/Diff - or - engine and tranny/dif in the 1992 directly? If so - what is the 1992 worth as it sits now? I could shop around for a tranny for the 2.3T for a while and crate it awaiting the demise of the old engine of it isn't a huge problem to swap power plants.. The Owner hasn't given up yet - had the header tacked back together and instructed the shop to fill it with fluid again and test drive it.. Sure enough - it moves - but the diff is locking up and it actually grinds rolling down the road.. I have got to think a full warrantee Volvo is in his future.. I would love to give this poor unfortunate 1992 CSE a loving if working home for it's surviving years, but I'm not sure what it's worth or if I can swap power plants / tranny / diff or both.. Indeed - Can I swap rotors and master cylinder as well?
