Subject: Saab 9-5, radio security code and dead batteries

I own a 1998 model UK Saab 9-5 2.3 Turbo saloon. It has one of the Saab radio/cassette systems with a single slot CD player. It's never asked for a radio security code before. I had some problems with the battery recently and it had to be replaced. Now when I try to switch on the radio/cassette I'm asked to enter a security code. When I called my local Saab dealer they said that there must be a fault because there IS no security code for stereos in 9-5s. They suggested I bring the car in for them to have a look, in case a fault has developed. Is this correct? Any suggestions on what might have happened?
