Well - having just replaced about everything brake related in the back of my '95 9000 2.3 LT, I thought I might share my experience. Don't know how it'll relate to your model year, though. In short, it's not that difficult. You'll need only standard tools, except for the hose clamp and a 7mm hex bit or UNBRAKO key (not common in sets). If you're using a hex bit, find something very durable to mount it in... UNBRAKO highly recommended. Also, study your Haynes carefully, and also take a look at www.townsendimports.com. Lots of good advice, IMO. I wouldn't mess with repairing calipers - just renew them. Cost for reworked parts here in DK was about 2200 DKR / 300 euro if you return the old ones (for a pair, that is). Suggest you replace the discs and pads while you're there - though once the calipers are renewed, they'll come off a lot easier next time :) Non-SAAB discs and pads were another 320 DKR / 43 euro. For clamping the hose, I used a QuickGrip (one of those clamps you can apply with one hand) - and a short piece of about 8mm metal tube duct-taped to one of the clamps. Result: a clamp (rubber-jawed) with one plain surface jaw and one rounded jaw. Works nicely. Of course - as always when working on brakes: expect things to require a LOT of torque to come off - and make sure your spanner or whatever is firmly suited before you apply all that torque (our you'll eventually have to cut the bolt in question - messy..) Time spent for replacing two calipers: about 4 hours (close to 3 hours for the first one, 1.5 hours for the second). Time spent for replacing two sets of discs and pads (a couple of days later :): about 2.5 hours - including adjustments. All work done outside (pretty cold, actually) - no lift, just a jack. regards & have fun :) Per Laursen '95 9000 CSE 2.3 LT "Simon Putz" <simon.putznopsamline.de> skrev i en meddelelse news:b18ubf$mgg$00$1nopsam.t-online.com... > Hi, > > nobody got any idea on the things i asked ? :( > well i guess i will get 2 new brake discs and try to rebuild my caliper with > a rebuild kit. > my left back handbrake doesnt work, hope i can fix this, the rebuildkit just > seems to contain some gaskets. i hope i can just plug the brake hose with > something because i really dont have any idea where to get those brake hose > clamps they mention in the haynes book. > if anyone gets a thought on anything i wrote please post it. > > bye > > simon > >
