How? Well, it is a little different than in a car with an auto. The specifics, I am not really sure of. The basics are that it has an electronic throttle at its heart. The 92 may not have even had a backup cable, I am not sure. The cable is for 'limp home' mode only. The electronic throttle is an expensive component from what I hear. These systems do not have a AIC, but regulate idle and cruise by the electronic throttle. The other issue, is that it is not so easy to convert a ETS car to normal throttle cable either. The ABS system, Engine management system, cruise control and the ETS system all have to work in concert commands by the TCS when traction is lost. Go to www.saabnet.com and visit the 9k bb. Do a search on TCS. The stories there are enough to have me pass on any TCS equipped 9k. The years are 92-95. The latest are supposed to be more reliable, but I steered clear when I got my '95 CS.
