It's really easy. Just unscrew the nut on the outside and pull the old one out as the motor is pushing it up (note the orientation of the 'cogs' on the plastic cable). If the motor won't push it up a firm pull upward on the mast may extract it. Stick the plastic cable on the replacement mast into the hole and guide the whole thing in when your helper turns the radio off. Replace the nut and you are done. Only problems are when the base of the mast is stuck in the housing, in which case removal of the whole assembley and surgery may be necessary. Eeuroparts.com has them for $14. I think most aftermarket masts will work.
