With the car in first and the handbrake on, rocking the car on the clutch (I gave it some good gas as well, but not enough to wheel-spin) the engine rocks to the NS a little, but the gear-stick doesn't move at all. I can feel some power on the gear lever, but no movement. The gear changes are very smooth indeed, even under full load. I can, given a good road, change between gears without the turbo gauge dropping out of the yellow - fast shifter, eh? I'm sure that would make a good demonstration of the scenario you're describing. There is no noise, or clunking when changing gears and no gearbox noise when driving. I think I've figured out the front engine mount, which I might as well do anyway. It doesn't look bad, but I've not seen a new one, yet :) I'll probably do that when I visit my parents - my Dad has a decent mechanics garage, with an inspection pit and a good flat surface to support the engine with a jack'n'wood.
