Nice performance aren't they :) >Salesman said to idle 30sec after starting I can see how this would work, although the owners manual I got with the car stated to start driving as soon as the oil light goes off, to speed up warm up to normal operating temp. >30sec before turning it off. What's the rationale for this advice? This stops the very hot turbo cooking/"Coking" the oil, and also stop the turbo bearing drying out from lack of oil after getting very hot from a fast run, and then being shuit down wothout any cool down period. Not such an issue woth Modern watercooled Turbo, but still a good precaution. >What additional maintenance is involved in owning a turbo? Most people here that aren't under dealer warrenty (and some that still are) tend to stick to a 3000 mile oil and filter change for the older pre- GM cars, while I've seen mention of 6000 miles for newer ones. Using good quality oil, and filter. Also using the correct recommended plugs (NGK I think), and decent leads at the proper service time appears to be popular too. There is loads of Saab info online, and it is good to get to know your beast. Have fun. -- Carl Robson The poster formally known as Skodapilot. http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
