Subject: Performance driving schools

Does anyone have any experience with so called "performance driving schools" such as the Audi Driving Experience or the Viggen Flight School? I take delivery of a 2003 9-3 Arc tomorrow and though I am totally excited, I am also a little bit intimidated. While the Arc is not a muscle car or racing machine, it is a very pleasurable and fun car and will be the most powerful and best handling vehicle I have ever owned - by a significant margin. My previous vehicles have included a VW Golf GL, a Beetle, and, most recently, a Honda Civic LX. In terms of horse power alone, the Arc is nearly twice as powerful as any one of the previous cars I have owned. I want to avoid letting the power and pleasure of driving this thing go to my head before I learn some of the finer points of driving. I am confident with my basic driving skills, but I want to maximize the potential of my new vehicle. I did a quick internet search for driving schools, but came up mostly with ways to reduce points or fulfill a court order (i.e. DUI school). Of course, neither of these apply to me... but, both the Audi school and the Saab school looked interesting, particularly since they are taught in cars of the appropriate class. My question is, though, are they worth it... and in the case of the Saab school, is it still offered. Of course, I plan to run this question by the dealer when I pick the vehicle up tomorrow, but I thought this forum might have some suggestions. I live in metro Atlanta - a place that seems to be over populated with aggressive drivers in Beemers, Audis, Lexi, etc (and Saabs) that seem to think their marginally powerful, sport tuned vehicles entitle them to weave through traffic like the straw in a panama hat. I don't want to be one of them and feel I need to learn to defend myself from them on the road. thanks much... if you want to reply via e-mail, remove the "obvious_crap" from my return address... - Scott
