Subject: Strange idling behaviour, hopping between 1500 and 2000 rpm

Hi, Yesterday noticed some strange behaviour, on my 1995 9000CS (2.0i). The "Check Engine" light had been on for a day or so, which is a common syndrom of my car, probably due to a funny LPG conversion, and often happening after a sudden change of weather type. I stopped for a traffic light, the engine kept running at 4000Rpm, Then after I tapped the accelerator pedal, it fell back to 1500, from which it hopped up and down between 1500 and 2000. I shut the engine, switched back to petrol, and started again, but the "hopping between 1500 and 2000 stayed. After a break of 10 minutes, it ran normal again. Any ideas on this kinda behaviour? Nel
