In article <1050952288.611207nopsamke.eclipse.net.uk>, julesnopsameventhinkaboutspammingme.slidejules.com says... > a quick word of introduction I suppose, I'm a 24 yr old brit and am thinking > of getting into the world of Saabs... my dad had two in his life, a 900 5dr > Turbo (PLW 454W, owned from 1982 to 1985) and a 9000 SE Turbo (E79 FLX, > owned from 1987 to 1993). Wow do I have some memories of that car, woooeee > it was quick! > I recently bought a 900 Turbo ('84) for just over £300, it needed new tyres and a new dump valve, which again came to just over £300. It isn't a fantastic condition car, it has signs of wear, but not nearly 20 years of wear. I was tempted by 9k's when I was looking, but stuck to my guns. There are 3 cars that I always wanted when i was a kid. A classic air cooled wide body 911 Turbo, a Saab 900 Turbo, and one of the rear engined Skodas, would ahve prefered a Rapid, but could only find an Estelle when looking. I got the Estelle on road for under £100 I kept the already on the road Saab, on the road for £600 Next thing is to find a 911 in a few years time for under £4k (might be hard). I think it must be the distinctive shape and very period fastback style that does it for me. the Porsche and the Rapid are both rear engined fastback coupes, and the Saab is a Hatchback coupe. All have a factory tail spoiler of somekind as standard or an option, and all have a very distinct silhouete. But I'm now a dyed in the wool classic Saab Enthusiast, as much as a Skoda nut now. Just need to shift the old Favorit, and find secure parking to get hold of an old Rapid Cabriolet without SWMBO finding out, for the summer. -- The poster formerly known as Skodapilot. http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
